## Description

A pre mixed single component adhesive, formulated to fully penetrate and revitalize rotted wood. The water based wood consolidant is environmentally friendly. Restore interior or exterior decorative woodwork, window frames, sills, sashes, nonsupportive posts or columns. Apply PC Petrifier to rotted area, let dry overnight, apply PC Woody to repair missing wood. After cure (overnight), sand, prime, and paint. Product may be poured, brushed, rolled, or sprayed on the treated area. 16 oz. bottle covers approximately 32 to 75 sq. ft., depending on porosity. Do not use for heavy structural support. For greater structural strength, refer to model No. 35061, PC Rot Terminator. No. 08444: 8 fl. oz. No. 16444: 16 fl. oz.

Review: Wood hardener - Works very well used it on woodworm damaged wood and rotten exterior wood. Takes longer to dry then solvent based products but has almost no smell so is brilliant to use indoors. Expensive but goes a long way. Won't be using solvent based hardener indoors ever again.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Since I don't want to sand stain off the soft wood, would it work to drill small holes into the wood and "inject" the product directly into the holes?**
A: I think this might work, I had very old shed with rotten windows sills and drilled holes in rotten wood. This was some years back. If I remember correctly it instructed you to drill holes for deeper penetration of the decayed areas of the wood. I will say the wood was more like rock when hardened

**Q: I'm replacing slats in an old bench with new pine.  Would this be good to harden and waterproof the new/undamaged wood, then stain after?**
A: No, new wood won't absorb it very well.  It's for old spongy wood.  There must be other products that are designed for preservation rather than restoration.  (BTW, I wasn't impressed with it for old wood either.)

**Q: Can this be used on mdf or particle board that has begun to expand and separate slightly? Such as the bottom of an arcade cabinet?**
A: This will stop rot and hold together wood that has become rotten.  The expansion will not go away. You might use in conjunction with yellow carpenters glue (water proof) and clamp the cabinet to force expansion and separation back to proper form.  I have used on wood that had termite and water damage and the restorer hardened the wood and do the same for manufactured wood.

**Q: Does the wood need to be completely dry?**
A: I'm guessing it would be better if the wood was completely dry but I do it with wet wood all the time. I stabilize wood with this and I use a vacuum pump to do it. Once the vacuum pump draws a suction on the wood while it's submersed in the hardener it will have all the air sucked out of it and the hardener will will saturate it to the bone so the thing will be stabilized so that you could run it through the dish washer. There are several videos on this on YouTube. Hope this helps.

I used this to repair and restore my almost completely mahogany rotten deck railing. I applied it as the simple instructions say, waited the appropriate time (in my case I needed to wait about18 hours for it to "cure" and it provided a hard surface that I could then apply the wood epoxy (same company) to. While it does not absorb the stain to provide the same color as before it really was not a problem for me since the finished product looked even better than I would have liked. After the final wood epoxy dried and I sanded it with the orbital sander, and then stained it, the finished product had "veins" of beautiful almond streaks within the darker "mahogany flame" Cabot stain that I used. I will post a picture here in a bit when I get the time. This product –The PC Products PC-Petrifier really does "petrify" your wood. It absorbs into the wood (first of course, you must clear away any of the truly loose particles and clean up the area that you must eventually fill with filler) after you either spray it on or brush it on (you can even pour it on if you want but I wanted more control so I put some into a spray bottle). Then just let it harden. I put a second application on some parts to make sure. Man, this stuff worked great. I never thought I could restore my railings (I was considering throwing one out) and I am so glad I found this product (and they also have a great wood epoxy). I am now a 100% believer.
