Etwas langsamer Roman

An interesting and well written book for anyone who enjoyes reading this kind of novel.
This novel (Gun Love by Jennifer Clement-245 page hardcover) is not the kind of book I usually read; however, after I purchased it on Amazon (for a bargain price) at my wife’s request, I decided to read it because my wife loved the book.I found it to be a unique and interesting tale and once I began reading it I could not put it down. The author knows how to weave a story in such a way that forces you to keep turning the pages.I never give away too much information when reviewing a novel because it could spoil it for anyone who is thinking of reading the book. This is a story about a family who lives in a car when the story begins. It follows the life of Pearl, whose mother ran away with her when Pearl was only a few weeks old. They end up living in a trailer park in Florida. From there Pearl begins the narrative of their life.Even though I think this kind of novel would appeal to women more than men, in spite of the title; however, I do recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good novel.Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Seated/Chair Tai Chi, Qigong and Yoga for seniors and the physically challenged).

Title is misleading.
This was not a book about the love of guns. Maybe I’m too literal. Actually, I’m not sure what this book is about. Guns? Characters? Love? But it was engaging and I read through it quickly.I don’t like authors who disregard quotation marks. I don’t want to have to work at discerning who says what and at what point is it their voice? I did not like the complete open end of the book. I don’t get the point. Interesting characters. Excellent picture of what guns can be used for in this world, both for good and evil. Plot was less than credible.

Incredible Story!
Gun Love captures the earth-made wisdom and philosophical wit of women living in a car, in a trailer park, in Florida where guns are a way of life. Pearl, the story’s main character, reads in a newspaper, “Don’t call 911 Buy a gun.” Short sentences that offer surprising, honest, never-in-doubt observations kept me wanting to underline them all. About her mother Pearl says “My mother was a cup of sugar. You could borrow her anytime.” About her situation of living in a car, Pearl says, “…when you live in a car, you’re not worried about storms and lightening, you’re afraid of a towtruck.” She called the life she and her mother lived a “dot-to-dot life, never thinking too much about the future.” Jennifer Clement has her own string of pearls way of describing things as the runaway who stayed with Pearl and her mother was named Mr. Don’t Come Back. Living in unstable and unsafe surroundings, the women you will come to know in Gun Love, exhibit unique insights about life, love, and yes, guns. You’ll get to know a cast of other memorable characters along the bewitching and heart touching tale of Gun Love. A must read book.
