(S) He has many years of training in diagnosis and acute medicine. The problem is, once the diagnosis is made, the treatment options are determined by the pharmaceutical companies. Your GP has to choose 1 of the options they recommend. Pharmaceutical companies will only work with synthetic chemicals, because these are the only chemicals that they can patent, and protect their profits. Substances that occur naturally in the body, cannot be patented by the pharmaceutical companies, so they are not interested in treatment involving boosting your body's natural systems. This means that GPs are not allowed to take this treatment approach. GPs have to follow the guidance given by pharmaceutical companies. So if you have a chronic problem, get a diagnosis from your GP. Then consider the pharmaceutical option by looking at the actual clinical trial result to see how effectively the pharmaceutical option works. Most pharmaceutical options only work for around 50% of the population, and Harvard Medical School has researched that around 50% of the benefit of common pharmaceuticals (other than antibiotics) comes from the placebo effect.
