**Q: Product description states this is not compatible with jvc tapes, yet you say it is......  i have several jvc vhs-c tapes to convert to dvd. so ???**
A: JVC branbded tapes will get jammed in the mechanism. They are fractionally larger.All other VHS-C tapes are OK

A: hi8 tapes are 8mm and there is no adapter made for them, sorry

A: No this won't work for VCR tapes, only for VHS-C cassettes.

**Q: I notice that one item sold by amazon does not need batteries and this one needs one. why is that? why necessary to be motorized. thank you**
A: It needs the power to load your smaller tape into this, I hope this helped, it only uses 1 AA battery and it seems to work pretty good.
