Thirdly, is the Pin Bolt, they are not heat treated hard on the tips that spreads the collet. Another issues of egg shaping. As per pic, these Pin Bolts where only use once to test the collet spreading and return to their retracted position [all were used to open the collet to 60% of max or approx half way. One could only imaged what these tips would look like after a dozen or less usages. All I can say, this collet set will deteriorate rapidly. Maybe others have had good luck. However, from what little I use it, I would NOT recommend this collet puller set. However, the pullers may not be able to get a good enough grip to pull all bearings. I've had a few that it would not grip enough to pull out. The jaws aren't hard enough or machined sharp enough to work 100% **Q: Will this work to remove a carrier bearing in outboard motor lower units?** A: I'm not sure if it will work for that application. If the puller jaws can grab the back side of the bearing it probably will. Slide hammer could be bigger *by R***B on December 2, 2023* This is a decent puller for this price. Know what you're buying and don't expect snap on level product here. It's not refined in an amazing case with a lifetime warranty, but it does get the job done, and has a good selection of sizes, especially on the smaller end. The slide hammer is a bit short as most people have said needs to be about 6-8" longer to be perfect, but it still can get the job done. The case is as cheap as you'd expect, it was a small explosion of pieces when i opened the case, but they easily went back to where they were supposed to be. So far I've used it to pull several pocket bearings and bushings, and a couple seals out of a BW-1354 transfer case, and it has done the job well. One bearing was particularly difficult, but it still got the job done with a little heat to the case around the bearing.
