I'm wanting to sew pillows, aprons, curtains, dog pads, and slipcovers.** A: 45 mm effective for cutting up to 6 layers of fabric. In the projects you mention, the 45 mm would be useful. Even home dec fabric can be cut by 45 mm if you do not cut more than 3-4 layers. The 60 mm is useful for more than 6 layers of fabric or for foam, but there is always distortion if you try to cut too many layers at once. My 45 mm cutter is the "go to" for everything. I have a 60 mm and have only used it on one project. If you can only buy one, buy the 45 mm. **Q: can i cut through leather with this?** A: Cutting through leather is almost all I do with mine. No problem. **Q: is there any warranty with this product? How long should it last?** A: I don't think there is a warranty on this. It is very sturdy. You just have to replace the blades as they dull over time. I use this every day and have had this brand for about 3 months now. I have another brand, Fiskars, and have used it nearly every day for 4 years. They are tough products. Olfa is one of the best brands so I don't think you will have a problem. I like this locking device the best. It handles well with me.One suggestion. Look out for the sales on the blades and grab them up. I have yet to find an efficient sharpener for these types of blades. **Q: Will this cutter accept Fiskars blades? (I have 1/2 dozen extra blades for my old cutter.)** A: Yes they will. the shaft on the Olfa is round and other 45 mm blades have a round hole too. I just now took my blade off and inserted and used both a Fiskar and Clauss blade on my Olfa 45mm rotary cutter. They absolutely work. The Olfa blades have some notches around the hole which have nothing to do with being able to slip a blade with only the round hole on them.
