I live in the woods and in a great night sky area. Using the red lens works great for seeing at night without a clear light disrupting your vision of the stars. These adjust from a broad light to a narrow view. I have a screen porch. A broad flashlight shining through screen just reflects back but with a twist to narrow the beam you can shine through the screen and see what is in the yard. The magnetic end cap works great for sticking a flashlight where you can find it.
