Review: Convenience is Worth the Cost - This is a very nicely done circuit board to provide a screw terminal interface for all of the pins on an Arduino Mega2560 microcontroller card. All of the pin identifications are clearly silkscreened on the PC board. The only drawback is that it alone costs 25% more than an Arduino card itself, but for me, the convenience of the screw terminal connections was worth the cost. Stacking headers are included to interface this board with the pin socket strips on the Mega2560, but I substituted regular male pin headers (they're easier to plug and unplug) since I wasn't going to stack another shield on top of this board. There is a provision to mount a pushbuton reset switch on this board, which is a good idea since the reset button on the Mega2560 is inaccessible when this board is installed. A couple of warnings: Assembly of this board involves a lot (172 to be exact) of soldered connections and vertical alignment of the pintails is critical to being able to plug it into the Mega2560, so be prepared for that. Also you need to add insulating tape to the top of the USB connector on the Mega2560 to prevent shorting against the pads on the bottom of this board.
Review: What you can do with these boards. - There is another offering of this same board that has the header pins pre-soldered. This board doesn’t which is good. I place the pins (actually similar header male pins from Digikey) on the top rather than bottom and mate them with a MEGA board that also does not have the pins soldered. Those you can also get on desertcart. Soldering both permanently mates the two boards and is highly reliable. I use these in multiple systems. Very good board.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Did they ever fix the silk screen errors? I would not buy it with such a serious defect!**
A: I have bought, assembled and used 3 of these boards (all Ver: 1.1) in the past year, and none of them have any errors in the silk screen. Perhaps there was a problem earlier that I never saw. All of the pads for the breakout connections to the headers that plug into the Mega board are correctly identified in the silkscreen using the same reference nomenclature as on the Arduino Mega, and they all are in the correct sequence. Maybe some were confused by the placement of the screw terminals due to physical space limitations, especially where needed for the break out of the double-row I/O connector. As a result of getting those 36 pins into a single row, those screw terminals actually wrap around onto the sides of the board. That in turn forces the breakout pad connections (along with their silk-screened IDs) to be pushed farther toward the other end of the board (especially on the side where the Arduino's digital pins D0 - D21 are located). That just means that the breakout pads are not immediately adjacent to the Arduino header pins they are connected to, not that they are wrongly marked. Long story short, if you go by the pin identification silk-screened on the breakout board, all of the actual connections to the Arduino Mega will be correct.

**Q: Does this board have the icsp header on it and enable pass though (e.g. for an ethernet shield?)**
A: Samtec ESQ-103-14-G-D ( Digikey SAM9289-ND -or- Mouser 200-10314GD ) 6 pin header ( 2x3) will connect Arduino Mega to Arduino Ethernet 2 Shield.

**Q: Is there a CAD file of the assembled board available?**
A: I don't know. I made my own CAD file.

**Q: Do you have any single sided pc boards?**
A: Sorry, no single sided pcb

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Takes a bit of assembly and soldering skills, but result is great.
*by L***N on December 26, 2024*

Components are good. The pins on the headers are strong and straight. The packaging by the vender is excellent. The assembly of the screw headers requires a bit of dexterity and attention to detail. The screw headers slide into the adjacent unit to construct the green, long, straight and trustworthy line of screw clamping connectors. They slide/snap to their adjacent partners. There should be no gap between each unit. If there is a gap, then disassemble the joint by sliding them apart and try again. There are two types of green units: two pin and 3 pin units. Each of the three row that you assemble is composed of two of the 2 pin units and the an appropriate number of 3 pin units. Use care and you will have a solid device.
