Each 5g pack mixes with water to create up to 1 litre of dye, enabling up to 8 litres total from the set. The dye applies smoothly with a cloth wad, delivering a professional, even finish in just one coat. Perfect for DIY enthusiasts and pros alike, it’s easy to adjust colour intensity and mix shades, making it a versatile, eco-friendly choice for vibrant wood projects. ## Description Product description This dye is mixed with water until the desired intensity is achieved. Very thin coats are applied with a wad of cloth. This is can be a big time saver reaching the desired colour in one coat. Each 5g pack of powder dye makes around 250ml to 1 litre depending on desired strength. Eight colours are in the pack making a total of up to 8 litres. The colours can be mixed for deep or light shades and can also be intermixed to form a broad palette of colours. How to apply: make a wad of cloth, then simply dip the wad into the dye and work into the surface finishing in the direction of the grain. Using this technique it is simple to get a great even finish. If the dye is too strong add water and vice versa. This way only one coat is needed and it is easy to get to the right colour first time. Always do a practise piece. Varnishing can be done with oils, solvent varnishes and spray lacquers. An instruction sheet is included. The two yellow strips in the photo are both made with the yellow dye, one with under staining with white and one without. Directions Simply mix the dye with water, you may need to wait a few minutes for it to dissolve completely. To apply the paint, make a cotton pad by folding a piece several times. Wear rubber gloves. Then simply dip the cotton wool into the dye and work towards the grain into the surface finishing. With this technique, it is easy to achieve a great even finish: simply work in the paint until the wood runs out of liquid on the surface. If the dye is too strong, add water and vice versa. So only one coat is needed and it is pretty easy to find the right colour the first time with a little practice. Review: A little goes a long, long, long way. - I was surprised to receive small packets of colours but the coverage is amazing. Be warned it dyes everything it touches and I got it everywhere πŸ˜†. I use Β£30 of spray colour to paint one guitar, this dye for half that cost will easily do 16 guitars. It works so well, great colours. I'll be a customer for life, no hesitation. Highly recommended. Its saves me a fortune. Review: Good strong colours. - Bright strong colours and the plywood boxes for granddaughter's treasures look great. Arrived in small slide lock bags and didn't look like there was much. However at one gram per 100ml I could make half a litre of each bag of approx. 5 grams. My scales aren't that accurate but a level small teaspoon seems about right. I've given the boxes 3 coats and there is still lots of the original batch left. As you will see some colours are deeper than others but extra coats (which I'll do later today should solve that. Note that the darker colours are more difficult to dissolve so you need to use hot water. Also the colour is very strong - my fingers are still stained after a couple of days. I bought foam brushes rather than using bristles but even so there were splatters. Haven't tried mixing yet but that's the next project. NB Please note that the 0ne Star review is somewhat unfair and was given because the dye does not dissolve in alcohol. It VERY clearly states in the ad that it is WATER soluble. ## Features - Exceptionally intense colours - Easy to get a professional finish - Dye goes a long long way - Easy to reach the right colour intensity in one go ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B08N1KNNF1 | | Base Material | Water-based | | Best Sellers Rank | 37,423 in DIY & Tools ( See Top 100 in DIY & Tools ) 197 in Stain | | Brand | Tiger Kit | | Coating Description | Water based wood dye with pigments for deep and bright shades and wide colour palette. | | Coating description | Water based wood dye with pigments for deep and bright shades and wide colour palette. | | Colour | Multicoloured | | Compatible Material | Wood | | Container Type | Jar | | Country of Origin | United Kingdom | | Coverage | Variable | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 198 Reviews | | Finish | Smooth | | Item Weight | 5 Grams | | Liquid Volume | 100 Millilitres | | Manufacturer | Tiger Kit Industrial | | Material | Water, Water Based | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 8 | | Paint Type | Water Based | | Recommended Uses For Product | Wood | | Size | up to 8 litres | | Surface Recommendation | Wood | | Surface recommendation | Wood | | UPC | 808857512338 | | Unit Count | 1 count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Tiger Kit - **Colour:** Multicoloured - **Material:** Water,Water Based - **Size:** up to 8 litres - **Surface recommendation:** Wood ## Images ![Brilliant Colour Wood Dyes. 8 Colour Pack. Water Based. - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/A1Gj+10d4WL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Is this appropriate for using with a stencil or will it bleed into the grain?** A: If you use an almost dry pounce (bun of cloth) to apply the dye you would get very little bleed and good edges if you have a thin film of stencil. Otherwise you will need to seal the wood up with a thinned varnish before mixing the dye with varnish and applying by brush - several coats will be needed to even out the finish. Practice on scrap wood first. **Q: Are you based in the UK?** A: Yes **Q: Am I able to put a clear tung oil finish over the dyed surface?** A: Should be fine. πŸ‘ I used Tru Oil over it and got great results. **Q: Can this be mixed with an alcohol to dissolve and cure faster?** A: Answer's in the description. Powder dye for water or alcohol. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A little goes a long, long, long way. *by E***) on 17 February 2024* I was surprised to receive small packets of colours but the coverage is amazing. Add water sparingly for intense colours Really easy to use coverage is great Some of purples and blues look too similar Does fade in direct sunlight even after varnish Warning.... wear gloves.... stains like hell ## Frequently Bought Together - Brilliant Colour Wood Dyes. 8 Colour Pack.
