He has knee-replacement surgery on one knee and is not really supposed to kneel a lot, but he can get away with a little kneeling while wearing these pads. The overall fabric is lightweight and stretchy, so they don't bunch up behind his knees like heavier knee pads, but the little foam cells on the front are effective padding.
