It is relatively soft feeling. Not scratchy on your feet. Nice quality. Mine is not in a high traffic area yet. Plan on moving it to Tv room soon. Once I laid it on the floor the creases disappeared almost immediately. I ordered the 9x12 (actual size is 8.5 x 11.5) in the natural color to help keep the wooden floors warmer in my old victorian fatmhouse. It looks great and is a great value. I love that the rug is chunky and has some weight to it. There's a slight hemp rope like smell that is dissipating.
