Would they have time in one class period (50 minutes) to fully build one of the bridges and take it apart?** A: I teach 9 thru 11 yr olds. The first few projects can be built in a single 1 hour session but the later more complex ones required two. I broke the class into 3 person team's. I built platforms using eighth inch plywood to hold the evolving bridges from class to class. It's worth keeping in mind that these kits are not just about building bridges. There are teachable moments regarding advantages and disadvantages of certain frameworks. There are also opportunities to teach a little about project team dynamics.
