Review: Love this book. - i love Joel Sartore. i have his national geographic video series and have followed him for a long time. I have many photography books but this one is my favourite for a beginner photographer. Each lesson is short - no more than 2 pages devoted to each lesson. It's to the point, easy to understand and beautifully illustrated with his photographs. He doesn't over analyze, and the reader isn't bogged down in theories and technical jargon. There are the usual lessons on aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc but it is presented very simply. Lots of great tips throughout the book for the experiential learner. The only downside to this book, is that it isn't digital.

i love Joel Sartore. i have his national geographic video series and have followed him for a long time. I have many photography books but this one is my favourite for a beginner photographer. Each lesson is short - no more than 2 pages devoted to each lesson. It's to the point, easy to understand and beautifully illustrated with his photographs. He doesn't over analyze, and the reader isn't bogged down in theories and technical jargon. There are the usual lessons on aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc but it is presented very simply. Lots of great tips throughout the book for the experiential learner. The only downside to this book, is that it isn't digital.
