I've been using Stringjoy strings for a while now (freaking fantastic by the way, as customizable as you could want gauge-wise) which are very full and lively (lots of harmonics, plenty of mids and they feel amazing for strings made of standard materials). The Cobalts, by direct comparison, have a lot less mids, around the same amount of low end and a bit more presence on top. They jangle very well and would be great for a guitar/pickups that are a little clogged up in the midrange. The set I normally use has gauges very close to this set of cobalts, but the cobalts feel a bit more loose than I would have expected (a few reviews I read stated that, when questioned, the folks at EB said that they're made with a slightly smaller core wire and that's fairly easy to see when inspecting the ball end during installation). They feel a bit rougher than what I'm used to, but they aren't uncomfortable by any means. I feel the greatest strength of this material is just how controlled/quiet they sound. Not just because of the slight scoop in the mids, but I don't hear the strings ring between the nut and tuners at all. Compared to standard slinkys and paradigms the cobalts are far and away my favorite. I'll be switching back to my Stringjoys in 10-14 days, but these are great strings that I could see many applications for.
