Store the board upright to dry or for long term storage; don't leave it flat on a countertop. Use a board conditioner, food grade mineral oil, or whatever they choose to send with their boards, after every couple uses; after every use if you're using soap to clean it. If you notice the board starting to warp slightly, flip the board over; this likely happened because the board was left wet on a countertop and it dried out unevenly (top before bottom). Oil the board a couple times a day for like a week right after you get it since it's probably dry since it's sat in an amazon warehouse for a while. We do this because we fundamentally believe that the type of oil or seasoning solution used on the board should remain a choice of our customers (though we do offer an all natural coconut oil suggestion in How To instructions that come with each board).But the board absolutely needs to be seasoned before its first use. Once it is, it takes on the rich chocolate brown color you see in the second photo on the listing page.
