It also allows you to just hook the pole saw on the branch while you rest a bit, if you choose to use it to cut thick branches as I do. The blade is flexible, which prevents it from staying bent when it gets flexed, which it will. I've abused it pretty solidly and found it pops right back into shape. I am going to add a thin lock washer under the wing-nut as that tends to get loosened by my uncoordinated thrusting and bashing of the saw up in the branches. quite satisfied with this purchase. I don't have any business operating a chainsaw on a pole, and have always thought those saws were tempting fate a bit too much. Note: Just saying from my experience's better to stick with the approved tool handles that are non metallic (and non electrical conductive) for safety reasons.
