We have used it religiously at the first inkling of a cold, sniffle, cough, and it absolutely cuts down on the amount of time he is down with a cold. He has only been on antibiotics two times since he was born, and our pediatrician told me he wished more parents felt the way we do about giving our child antibiotics at the drop of a hat or Tylenol every time they had a slight fever. It's the body's way of fighting the infection. It was recommended to be given at the first sign of a cold, and then three times daily until it went away. When our little guy would get croup, we were recommended Pipe Cleaner. Works like a charm. Same thing for the Chest Relief when a cold would settle in his chest.
