Initially they bribed me into a glowing review by offering a second item for free. As I came to realize how bad the freznel lens is, I have not used the thing at all. I bought another Magnipros item that SHOWED A CLEAR LENS, and it also is the freznel lens. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THEM 4-5 TIMES AND GOTTEN NO RESPONSE. I will NEVER again deal with this company. **Q: does this magnify when placed directly on the page?** A: You need to position this page magnifier 2" to 4"(adjust distance to which gives you the best result) above the small prints/objects in order to have optimal magnifying effect. **Q: What is the best distance to hold it above the page? If held more than 6 inches from the page, will it still be magnified clearly? After they make version with stand it gonna be master piece. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great gadget for poor eyes *by P***K on 29 August 2022* After putting in the batteries, I took a moment to realize where the switch was: it's the same as the dimmer wheel ... turn until it clicks off... Surprisingly distortion free across the field of view. I've grown up expecting Fresnel lenses to be OK in the middle of the field, but drops off legibility away from it. This is fairly flat all the way to the edge. It's very lightweight, which is what you need when holding it for any length of time, hence it's plastic. But looks smart. Very effective. The lights are variable, but not vital unless in poorly lit up area. So you can save on batteries for using them only when necessary. Being LED's I expect a very long life out of the batteries. All in all, a very good purchase. Well worth the money. Just a quick postscript: It is distortion free if held at the recommended distance, go further out and the image distorts.
