All that said, I wouldn't choose this cream for dry, flaky skin...it seemed a little thin to me (which I like as I'm using other products as well). I encourage you to check out cetyl alchohol; it sounds like it actually enhances lotion's ability to moisturize by forming a barrier that water can't penetrate thereby preventing dry skin. Just my two cents. When you are talking about L'Ascorbic Acid this can be true because L'Ascorbic Acid requires a very low pH to be stable, and niacinamide a bit higher (5+). Our Vitamin C is derived from Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which is a highly stable form of Vitamin C and requires a higher pH, as niacinamide. This is why we are able to successfully make the combination.
