But, short answer, the + has anti panic so your belayer will have a much harder time dropping you to the deck, it's the one I make my kids use. I use a 2 if I need a grigri for myself though. **Q: Can i tree climb with hand ascenders and lower myself with this grigri device or should i get the id?** A: You could.
