The 185 is for amounts that need more than 24 g of coffee. More than 16 oz of coffee at a time. I have both and use them both. I do like the 155 for single cup brewing. **Q: what grind and type of coffee is best with this Kalita?** A: The other answers must not be from people who understand that each morbid of brewing coffee requires a different grind. For pour over coffee, the best grind to use is a medium-coarse grind. A medium-coarse grind will be similar in size to a French press grind but less chunky and will feel slightly smoother. If you are using a cone-shaped pour over (with a smaller opening that the Kalita) then use a medium-fine coffee grind instead. In any case, you also want to be sure to pour the water over all the grounds, not just in the center, to ensure the grounds are all saturated to ensure a full extraction from all the beans. **Q: What grade of stainless steel is it made of? 18/10? 18/8? 304? 316? or something else?** A: I believe in Tsubame Japan where they are known for their metal work that 18/8 Stainless Steel in the norm. Mine is durable, non-reactive and corrosion free. Love it! **Q: Using gevalia fine grind in the 155. it drips well on the first pour of hot water, but stops dripping on the second pour. any suggestions? thank you.** A: You cannot use fine grind coffee with this pour over. It is clogging up and there is no way around this, unfortunately. You must use coffee with a medium grind.
