Review: Great add-on for the basic game! - Dixit is a cool game, less competitive than most games (moving the little figures seems more of an afterthought), great focus on images, words, and interaction. After a while, you know the original set too well to be surprised - so these add-on cards are terrific as they infuse the game with new possibilities. The images are playful and often weird - in a good way. Also - these cards are sturdy! When you play with younger children, they tend to keep their cards spread out on the floor under the table (to hide them) - these cards hold up nicely.

Dixit is a cool game, less competitive than most games (moving the little figures seems more of an afterthought), great focus on images, words, and interaction. After a while, you know the original set too well to be surprised - so these add-on cards are terrific as they infuse the game with new possibilities. The images are playful and often weird - in a good way. Also - these cards are sturdy! When you play with younger children, they tend to keep their cards spread out on the floor under the table (to hide them) - these cards hold up nicely.

A great game that moves away from the (mainly German designed) games which appear engineered to keep everyone scoring close together until the end. Dixit really does bring something different in attempting to make you use you knowledge and understanding with the other players so as to explain a card in which SOME BUT NOT ALL of them will be able to correctly pick your card. There are great you tube videos demonstrating the game in action including a certain series with an ex-star trek star, and it was this that made me get the game. Some of the cards are a little unusual but that's part of the game. I understand there are a huge number of add on card packs to keep the game fresh however they appear expensive (IMO). One of the few games that is universally liked with my family and played repeated. Well worth a try!
