It depends on how you prepare it and the ingredients you ADD to the mix. Lemon is very drying, so don't use it. Chamomile tea or cranberry juice (diluted 50/50 w/h2o) are plenty acidic for dye release and they don't dry your hair. Henna takes awhile to remove from your hair. 3 minutes of rinsing is simply not enough. 10-25 minutes is necessary depending on how thick/long your hair is. After you MUST shampoo and condition to remove residue or your hair will FEEL dry. This will NOT effect the color. Note: it will not actually be dry, it will just feel that way because there is still henna powder in your hair. A lot of people know absolutely nothing about henna and try it once, screw it up and then blame the product. You MUST do your research or be prepared for unreliable results. Still turned green. use at your own risk. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love it more than dye *by A***Y on 5 September 2023* I was so nervous to use henna on my hair because I didn’t want red in my hair, but I really wanted something non toxic and safe. I finally pulled the trigger on this one after looking at lots of reviews. I used light brown and I love how and it turned out and will definitely be using this again. I would say it’s maybe one or two shades darker than my natural light brown hair, but I think it looks great and prefer it over dye as it more stains the hair than dyes it, so I think you get more dimension with the color. I have lots of greys all over to begin with and they covered well. I used 1 small Dunkin’ coffee (funny measurement but true) 5 drops of lavender essential oil, 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, and some water to mix it. I let it sit with the shower cap included in the box for 3 hours. I rinsed with cold water and conditioned. It took lots of rinsing to get it out and lost a good chunk of hair from it. I only conditioned for several days following and the color is holding up well so far. It does smell a tad earthy but I think the lavender helped. I wanted to try to show good photos and include exactly what I did because I was so nervous to use it, I hope my review and before and after photos help. I have true light brown hair and previously would use dark blonde dye to color my hair.
