Finally decided to try one and I'm glad I did. Main reason really is that I am tired of paying the horrendous prices for CF cards when cards of similar capacity cost a fraction in the SD and MicroSD format.I use this with a Canon 5D Mark II and sometimes a 7D. I have tried several SD and SDHC cards of different capacities with it. Works great with all of them. Recently I got a great deal on a 32GB MicroSD card. So I gave that a shot, put the MicroSD card in a SD adapter and plugged all that into this adapter. Works like a charm. I do have to add that I am not a high speed shooter, so I can't vouch for how well all these setups work when shooting high speed consecutively.I also have two different older 4GB Eye-Fi cards. This adapter works with both of them. I get about 8 feet distance with them before they stop uploading to my iPad 2. I did not take the metal sides off like some suggest. May try that someday. But I didn't have to update any firmware either to get them to work. My older Eye-Fi cards won't transmit RAW files, so to fix that, I shoot RAW plus small JPG, then the JPG gets sent to the iPad for immediate evaluation, and the RAW is stored on the card. Have not really had enough time to use this setup for longer shoots, I will update if I run into heat or other problems.I uploaded a few pictures of the card in my 5DII and with the MicoSD card. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars 5d Mark II and eye-fi x2 pro *by A***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2011* Bought this so that I could use an eye-fi x2 card in my 5d Mark II. I use the combo to wirelessly tether photos directly to my iPad 2. Can't be happier.Update: 11-23-11My original adapter began failing. Err 02 would pop up every 5-10 shots or so. I bought a new one and everything is working well again. I would recommend buying two of these adapters and switching the eye-fi card back and forth as they begin to overheat. I believe the Err 02 comes from overheating and the eye-fi card shutting down. I don't know for a fact, but I think the eye-fi card has built in overheat protection and will shut itself off. I also recommend transferring the RAWs to your laptop with the eye-fi+cf-adapter through a cf reader or through your camera with a cord. I've corrupted whole cards full of RAWs by trying to connect the eye-fi card directly to the computer(mac) through the eye-fi card reader and also using a sandisk card reader. Luckily, I had the jpegs as backup. I've had no corruptions when transferring through the camera+cord to laptop or through the eye-fi+cf-adapter and cf card reader. Again, while transferring, the card will overheat and shut down. When this happens, I put the eye-fi card in to the 2nd cf-adapter and start where I left off. Sometimes I have to swap 3-4 times before I transfer all of the RAWs to lightroom. It's frustrating, but worth it.I also DON'T recommend removing the metal plate from the card like most how-to's will tell you to do. Just keep the iPad close to your camera while they're transferring. I like to sling my camera over my shoulder and hold the iPad with the same hand while I'm walking to my next shot. Or if I can set them down, I'll put them right next to each other. I believe removing the metal makes the card overheat faster and is why my original adapter became faulty.For people asking about my setup. I use a $15 app called "shuttersnitch". No jailbreak required. I use an iPad 2 and an eye-fi x2 pro 8gb. I now have two of them. My 5d mark II has firmware 2.0.9 and my eye-fi cards are updated with the newest firmware as well. The way it works is the eye-fi card sets itself up as a hotspot in "direct mode" and your iPad joins the eye-fi hotspot. then shuttersnitch somehow pulls the jpegs to it. there's some setting up, but it works well once set up.If you'd like to see a detailed writeup on how to set it up, i've written one. Search google for "5d mark II eye-fi wireless tethering" and it should be the first result(on a site called dcresource). I'd put a link, but they delete those. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm..... *by S***1 on Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2012* Using in a Canon 7D with an Eye-Fi Pro 8GB sd card in ad hoc mode to transmit photos to an IPAD 3. Seems to work fine once you set it up (that is, program it to do what you want with the included software). Removing the top metal plate helps with range (probably get 20ft through walls). About 5-7 seconds to send a low res Jpeg to the Ipad. Might be some interference from the wireless network in my house. (You can also send photos to the ipad through the home wireless network, though ad hoc actually seemed quicker.) Outdoors on location will likely prove a bit snappier. (That is, I programmed the Eye-Fi to ignore the home wireless network and use ad hoc--or direct--mode only. Also had to tell the IPAD to use the Eye-Fi's wireless ad hoc and ignore the stronger home network.
