It has a ceramic core and boar bristles. It feels well made and strong enough that it will hold up well during blow-outs. (I've broken many a round brush so this IS note worthy) I didn't care for the rubbery feel of the handle. It was VERY uncomfortable and ergonomically awkward during use. I also did not feel as if I could get a good " grab " on each section of my hair during my blow-out. I have thick hair past my shoulders and use a dyson dryer. MAYBE this brush is healthier than my Technique round brush, but it does not do as good of a job. It took more time and I had to smooth my ends under with a different brush. I have long, fine, color treated hair, that is not difficult to style. I tried GHD recommended method - 80% drying first and also drying from towel dry, both methods gave the same results, fluffy flyaways” and hair that resembled a badly groomed poodle. ( I also use a smoothing serum). Using this brush did not give me the smooth, straight finish my old faithful $7.99 brush does. The brush is slightly heavier than my previous brush, but not heavy enough to require muscle fatigue breaks.
