While starting seeds is what the Rockwool is set up for, I used them to start tomato clippings. I used a small storage tote and several ball jars to hold the net cups. In the storage tote, the Rockwool touches the water while in the Ball jars the cotton wick is used to draw the water up into the Rockwool.The kit turned out pretty nice and all of the tomato clippings have grown well. The only issue I have with the Rockwool is that an algae bloom started on all of them and I had to find some way to cover the tops so that light couldn't touch them.
