My niece is able to pick it up and move it without effort. The back legs on the stool angle out just a bit which make it nice and stable. Since I needed two, I bought both. Here are my thoughts: KidKraft - Harder to assemble (I find their screws strip easily, have had this issue in the past) - Scratches easily (came with a few and already scuffed up) - The angle in the back makes it hard to put up against the sink like others mentioned - Is solid wood which I like but added to difficulty to get the screws to catch - No rubber grips from the bottom, so worry it will slide more easily on the ground Melissa & Doug - Easy to Assemble - Sturdy - Particle board but I find that it's very solid and strong - Slightly wider than KidKraft it feels like and my daughter can climb up it easily on her own - Rubber grips for the bottom keep it from sliding I put non-slip tape on both to be safe. Overall, both are good products and look good. But if I had it to do over again, I'd buy two Melissa & Doug step stools.
