But we painted it first and had to give it drying time. The glued components also took some time. It took us 2 days to finish. BTW the stinging takes the longest. It was fun. **Q: Do you need to buy your own paints and glue? And if so, which colors/brands?** A: Yes. I used Testor's plastic model glue (the red tube). Several paint colors are necessary for a better looking final model. The model box and instructions provide a color guide. Any flat plastic model enamel would work well. I used Model Master and Humbrol. I also painted the hull with copper paint. Enjoy. **Q: model size** A: The scale is 1:110 . The box says 37.2 cm long & 29.1 cm high . The hull itself is 11 inches from the figurehead to the transome . I bought it here new, however, the mfg.'s mold stamp is dated 1958! It's difficult for me to translate the given scale of any kit, (in this case 1:110), to what the actual size will be once assembled. This kit turned out to be smaller than I like, (about 13" with bowsprit), however despite quite a bit of mold flash, it turned out very nice.
