It's semi-rigid and offers decent protection. The webbed storage compartment fits snuggly against the calculator, so you'll only be able to fit fairly thin accessories, like a reference card, rulers, or thin pens/pencils. Anything thicker and it will press into the calculator. However, just FYI, the case is too narrow to fit an HP Prime with its plastic shell. The Prime will fit without its plastic shell.
