The holders holster all of my baitcaster and spinning rods and also hold all of my nets. For kayaks with narrower space you can install the extensions.The lid is a slick tinted plexiglass/lexan. Those of us who build pc's know all to well how this material scratches. So yes, it will scratch and likely to have scratches when you open the shipping box. Add a bit of auto wax and call it a day cause other kayak fisherman will look at this crate with envy.My only gripe with this crate is that it's difficult to find additional rod holders in Canada but that's with so many things in Canada.
