Review: ideal for money - thanks
Review: My go to has been isopropyl alcohol for cleaning my airbrushes until recently. IPA does clean out the airbrush nicely after using water based paints at the end of a session based on a test I conducted. I discovered this cleaner did find some residue remaining after 99% IPA use from petroleum based enamel paints. I haven't tried it on dried paint as I clean my airbrushes after each session thoroughly as a preventative measure. I normally have a week or more in between sessions. I still use distilled water and IPA for color changes during a session depending on paint type, but I will be using this cleaner from now on for end of day clean up along with my ultrasonic cleaner afterwards. The 32 ounce size of this brand is economical when compared to other sizes and manufacturers by price per volume. I do recommend placing a piece of plastic wrap over the neck under the cap to prevent evaporation over time once seal is cracked. I do use this product specifically for cleaning the airbrushes. I use a separate thinner for reducing paints along with flow improver for what I believe to be the best results on my finished works.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you use this for enamel paints?**
A: No, it's for acrylic paint

**Q: Whenever I use this on my airbrush I get this smoke that comes out... has anyone else had this problem?**
A: Are you sure that’s it’s smoke and not bubble?

**Q: Will this clean lacquer paints too?**
A: On the bottle there's no mention of using it to clean lacquer paint. for what I've read is that most lacquer thinner will do the job well just fill the reservoir a couple times and run it through and that should clean your air brush, lacquer paint dry quickly and hard .they're tough on the tip of your airbrush needle so you may have to take it apart and clean the needle if running through doesn't work

**Q: What types of paint will this work on? Enamels and/or lacquers, or just acrylics?**
A: I was not sure myself so I checked online with Iwata. According to the Iwata web sites, Iwata-Medea Airbrush Cleaner is good only for acrylics and other water based paints, inks and dyes. For enamels and lacquers they recommend lacquer thinner or acetone. This is what airbrush painters have been using for ever and is what works. Regular paint thinner is usually not strong enough if the solvent based paint has had any chance to dry. The Iwata-Medea Airbrush Cleaner does work well though with acrylics. Lacquer thinner or acetone are hazardous so don't forget breathing and skin protection, also recommend using one of the cleaning jars.
