Mission accomplished. I made a dagger and used this magnet to hold the parts while I sanded them, without worrying about losing fingers. The magnets a plenty strong enough to hold the part solid against the moving belt. The handle has a nice grip, easy to hold. It was a pleasant surprise to see the two plastic parts that cover the magnets themselves and keep things from accidentally jumping onto the magnets.
