It's a moist cream. I've used it on my rashes and also zits. It works great. We even put it on our dogs hot spot and it helped. The cream is better than the ointment that's out there. I tried the ointment and it was gritty and wasn't something you could put on your skin and leave on. You can definitely do that with the butter and ointment formula. It's some oils with sulfur.
