I have insomnia, in the sense that its very hard for me to fall asleep, but I can sleep all night and its even hard for me to wake up in the morning. I take this product on days when I catch myself struggling a little to fall asleep at night, and it helps calm me enough to allow myself to rest. On days I have taken it, its worked within minutes and really helps me rest and have a good nights' deep sleep. The trick is to take it right before bed, and not entertain yourself with anything else after (I think it might be a placebo effect, not sure, but it works!) The product itself wont make you sleepy, it calms/ "um-stresses" you when you can't "shut off your brain" or are feeling anxious. I have taken it during the day, and even gave it to a "mother of the bride" once on the day of the wedding- and like magic, it just calms you down! As for the side effects; I didn't experience any. Many have said it "helped" with constipation and most blamed this on the amount they started taking. I used the entire pouch since day one, but have never had more than one in a day. I cant speak to the health benefits either because I haven't taken it consistently enough- but my husband and his family swear by magnesium supplements.
