My hostas and lilies have recovered and the newest plants to emerge have had no damage. We started with a small container and are now using a pump hand sprayer using a mixture from the larger refill size. This really saved my garden. Hopefully my husband will continue to spray (close any windows!!!!) but if not, I will do so with a mask. Really strong. I told my husband to be careful not to get it on his clothes because he kept walking past the hostas and I said if you get this on your clothes, I'm throwing them away. They will not be brought into the house. But I had high hopes. Day two I go out to check the hostas and there are so many flies there I can't believe it. Everywhere. But only on the leaves where I sprayed - they didn't bother me at all. I thought uh-oh. This might not be what I want. Day three still flies. Maybe a little bit less. Day four flies but less. Day five until the end of the summer, no smell and my hostas made it all the way through the season unscathed . I never had to spray them again and all the leaves are still there! I've tried rubbing alcohol and dish soap, but nothing is helping.** A: Our bottle just arrived and even the box stunk. Hubby spilled on his hands opening it. Washed his hands with Persil laundry detergent and then rubbed hands down with white wine and fresh lemon. Final wash with soap and he is good to go. **Q: Left the bottle outside and something carried it away and chewed through the bottle! What would do that??** A: My guess would be a raccoon or a possum. Even with this precaution I can catch of whiff of the product from time to time! **Q: Do you spray it directly on the tree branches/trunk, or the ground perimeter?** A: I actually use more for flowers, and for those since I have large garden area, I spray fence like so they do not go into area. For hostas that they love and if they are exceptionally beautiful I spray them direct. For trees, I would probably spray direct on trunk and small area around perimeter. Trunk should really absorb odor, so unless it rains, should be able to go week or so.
