The Comfort Layer will mold around their joints and feel very, very comfortable.A small dog (Beagle, Boston Terrier, etc) is too light to sink into the top layer of Comfort Foam. It would feel stiff to a smaller dog, but comfortable to a bigger dog. **Q: Kirby is a 115 lb corso/pit mix. He is a nester. Is it the foam height? 7" vs 4"? or headrest?** A: I checked on the dimensions of the XL Dogonit bed. They are 40 x35 x 4. Big Barker XL is 52 x 36 x 7. My dog weighs about 130 lbs. so the Big Barker is the right choice for him. I think the 4 inch foam would be flattened after a year or so of constant use. Also there is a 10 year warranty on Big Barker. And he loves the headrest.
