Very easy to install. Hardest part is if you want to get the mirror on the right side or the left. What you do is put a strip of teflon tape on the exposed threads and then install it but don't tighten it all the way. If it's not positioned where you want it, remove it, add another layer of teflon tape and then reinstall keeping in mind that tightening it will give another 30 degrees or so. Best shaving mirror on the market. **Q: Is any "chrome" part of this product actually plastic that is painted chrome, or is it all truly metal?** A: The flexible arm and connector are metal but the trim around the mirror is chrome plastic. The mirrors are real glass. I've had mine now several years, no pitting or tarnishing, still solid and new looking. **Q: is this metal or plastic?** A: It is possible to nickel plate plastics (Eelectroless Nickel Plating) and the plastic will look very metal-like until it breaks or strips out. I don't own the product, but I'm still wondering the same thing since E-nickel plated plastics look so much like actual chromed metal. If it's magnetic it's obviously carbon steel....although 300 series stainless steel (highly corrosion resistant) is also non magnetic. **Q: Is there a water control valve to the mirror?** A: No, there is no water control valve to the mirror. The flow of water to the mirror is automatic. While showering, a small amount of water is always flowing into and through a copper "heating element" coil sandwiched between the mirrors. The water circulates down through the coil - and then back up and out through the shower stream. Thus, the fog proof property of the mirrors is always active and present. This is a nice, high quality design.
