Very stable base design. I like that the opening of brass wire pot opens more upwards than my former primary. The pot stays well in its hole and bottom rests on the surface below, not in a shallow cup of the stand. Pot bottom has 3 small rubber feet. Nice touch. Got this for my new Fnirsi digital iron and the iron seats VERY well in the holder. The pleasant surprise was a tab under the top that keeps the iron fairly well aligned in holder, rather than hot tip resting against underside of the top. Even BETTER surprise is the end of the tab is bent forward [pic with red circle]. This prevents my tip (wider than the shaft) from slipping out when bumped! Picking up iron normally tilts it right to easily slip out. The variety of long tips I have slip into the top hole grid well with plenty of separation from loaded hot iron tip. Better organization and easy to spot and load tip I want before firing up. I now have the right holder for a nifty digital iron, and a place for tip cleaning pot that doesn't take up room on the silicone matt. I ordered the Hakko Iron Holder 633-01 w/ 599B and the Hakko Desoldering Kit, with the 808 Desoldering Gun, 120 VAC with built in vacuum pump last year - Feb. 2013. The 633-01 holder works great with the Hakko 808 as well as soldering irons.
