Stayed in the ground during a thunderstorm, nothing got blown away and we are talking crazy winds! Probably not 50 UV rated because the baby was under it the entire time and got a little red, plus you can kind of see through the flaps of material. I have a true 50+ personal sun umbrella and that one doesn't let any light through. But, it did keep the direct sun away and It was much cooler then if I was directly out in the sun. Looks super cute and is easy to find due to the bright colors.
