## Overview

## Description

Extra-Soft Pastels are comfortable to hold and invite you to cover large areas with a lush, luxurious color. Each pastel is composed of high quality pure pigment and a natural transparent binder. The exceptional brightness is the result of the pigment and the natural mineral fines discovered by Sennelier in 1905 and that have been used ever since. This set includes 30 half-stick extra-soft pastels in Apple Green 205, Blue Grey Green 500, Bright Yellow 341, Bronze Green Deep 158, Cadmium Yellow Light 297, Cerulean Blue 257, Chinese Vermilion 791, Cobalt Blue 353, Flesh Ochre 016, Helios Red 681, Hot Brown 191, Ivory Black 513, Lemon Yellow 603, Madder Carmine 378, Magenta Violet 940, Mummy 104, Naples Yellow 099, Orange Lead 037, Prussian Blue 288, Raw Sienna 508, Red Brown 006, Reseda Gray Green 212, Ultramarine Deep 388, Van Dyck Brown 439, Van Dyck Violet 409, Vermilion 083, Viridian 252, 256, White 525, Yellow Ochre 115.

Review: Excellent product with excellent packaging! - These are delicate pastels! But they were well packaged and arrived intact! Thank you! I will look for your products in the future!
Review: brilliant darks + very soft + affordable = smile - I use a lot of Sennelier, but have a few very nice Unison sticks from their dark set on hand. When I decided to buy a whole set of darks, I thought about getting the Unison set, but it includes fewer colors than the Sennelier set of darks and is quite a bit more expensive. The strange thing is, I held off buying the Sennelier darks because I tried a few out during a visit to my local art supply and a couple of them seemed a bit hard and crunchy (very strange for Sennelier). I thought that perhaps they had just been sitting around for twenty years. Still, that's a lot of cash to spend to find out all you've got is hard, crusty sticks to show for it. I finally took the plunge when I received a gift certificate. The darks I received were every bit as soft as the Unisons I had been using, but they are a bit more brilliant. The bottom line is this: if you want a high-quality set of really soft dark pastels, your options are limited and often very expensive; Unison was the least expensive up from Sennelier, and they cost about thirty dollars more for fewer sticks. I suppose you could start thinking about Terry Ludwig's "Intense Darks l" and "Intense Darks ll," but now you're talking about $160.00 for thirty sticks (but, let me tell you, they are beautiful). What you get with the Sennelier dark set is a box of terrific light-fast colors that are as soft or softer than the ultra-expensive handmade pastels, but at about sixty bucks. Not bad, not bad at all.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The most opaque and rich color from any oil pastels.
*by P***E on September 15, 2023*

If you want to experience thicker, full color capable of working over other oil pastels, you can't beat these. However, I suggest laying in with a less expensive brand, then work over that layer with these. The Sennelier company uses rich pigment but its more difficult to do line work, more like working with hard lipstick. (I would think. Never wore lipstick, I swear!) These are rich enough to blend with a brush or wet with mineral spirits to thin.
