I did buy a sun shield for the thermometer and that eliminated issues with direct sunlight. My only complaint is that the dew point reading switches to the heat index at >80 degrees. This is okay, but it doesn't compute the heat indeces correctly. This unit always reads much lower than the actual heat index numbers. I know my sensor is correct as it reads humidity correctly below 80 degrees (where I can see it). I'd much rather do away with worthless relative humidity readings (they really mean nothing to science people) and forget the heat index as well unless Acurite can do it properly.
