## Description

A good astronomer wants to use his telescope at night AND day. For this you need a high quality solar filter. Sunspots, eclipses and transiting satellites, all can be seen clearly and safely when using a black polymer filter. The sun will appear in a natural orange color through your telescope. Buying the sheet and making the filter on your own will also save you a lot of money. Thousand Oaks Optical have been producing high quality solar filters for the past 30 years and we are an authorized distributor of theirs. Worldwide shipping available.

## Features

- Black polymer is the most common filtering material for observing sunspots and granulation, through telescopes and binoculars.
- These sheets are a quality product of Thousand Oaks Optical, Arizona, a manufacturer of safe solar filters for over 30 years. "Stronger than Mylar with the filtering properties protected within the substrate. Guaranteed five years."
- Make a filter on your own for any telescope / binoculars / camera, and for a fraction of what factory made filters cost.
- The sun will appear in a natural orange color when viewed through your telescope using this filter.
- WARNING: ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE FILTER IS WELL ATTACHED TO THE TELESCOPE/BINOCULARS, USING STICKY TAPE, TO KEEP IT FROM FALLING WHILE OBSERVING!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you fit this onto a camera lens?**
A: So, what you want to do is get yourself a step-up ring - the largest you can find. Say you're using a lens with a 77mm filter size. Get a step-up ring that is at least 77mm- 85mm. Cut a circular piece of the filter sheet to fit the larger part of the step-up ring, in the case of the example, 85 mm (doesn't have to be exact!). Put a few drops of super glue on the "shelf" of the step-up ring, and glue the cutout onto the shelf, being very careful to not touch the film with your fingers (this stuff is a grease magnet! I use cotton gloves whenever I want to handle it.) Now, you can screw the filter you just created onto your lens just like any other filter!

**Q: You have 2 pics as an example, orange looking sun and a red looking sun. Which one is it when viewing?**
A: It can actually be either, depending on sky conditions, time of day, etc. Even by eye, sun may appear deep orange at dawn or dusk, but almost white at midday. Hope that helps.

**Q: Can the sheets be cut into smaller dimensions?**
A: Yes the sheet is rather thin and can be cut with normal scissors. I mounted mine to a PVC pipe between two pieces of thin glass and the filter can be placed on the end of the telescope.

**Q: Are these filters really from Thousand oaks Optical? Anybody able to verify?**
A: Hi Saeed, I understand your concern. We are distributors of Thousand Oaks Optical, and are based in Israel. If you would like, you can email the company and they'll assure that.Best Regards,Elad Customer ServiceIzgut LTD.
