I needed to create a flat surface for the shelves to hold cans and things that would not sit properly between the wire and these sheets were PERFECT. They are very sturdy but I was still able to cut them to fit with a good pair of scissors. I purchased oversized ones and then cut them to fit my shelves so I was able to get more than one shelf out of a large sheet, so that is something to consider if you have shelves to put them on that are not the same size.
