I wish I could have given it a 4.5 only because I use this continuously, and I have to restart it every hour. While I wish I could have it stay on longer than an hour, I like that I can run it longer than 20 minutes. What I really like is that it does shut off completely. I can't begin to count the number of times I took my previous TENS off in the evening, when I'd really boosted intensity, only to get one heck of a jolt the next morning since it started at the same intensity as the night before. If you're worried about the pads, I did get extra set since I use them so often, but with careful usage (clean, no fabric "fuzz", storing them on the plastic they came in, and using just a smidge of water to reactivate), you'll be good for a long time. If you've never used a TENS, you'll either love it or hate it.
