Honestly, it will drive a hatchet, but when the hatchet sinks flush with the log this won’t do you any good; because it’s about 3” in diameter. In addition, if the log is open wide enough for this to fit, you will take chunks out of the cast poly material when you inevitably hit the sides, so it wouldn’t last long. Estwing makes a hatchet size splitting maul for cured firewood that’s all steel and is quite durable; it’s not for splitting big logs but it’s way better than a hatchet; or a pocket knife.
