I have always washed my hair with a straightening shampoo and conditioner before putting this in my hair to help out with the straightening so I'm not sure how this will work without the help of a straightening shampoo & conditioner. I always flip my head over and give it a little shake to add some body after I straighten with my flat iron before I spray with hairspray.
