Q: Which would be better? the logitech g502 or the corsair m65 pro.

I have both. G502 is lighter than m65 and I prefer it's click spring action, double tapping is a lot easier with it. However, what I don't like about the G502 is it's shape which puts me in a minority. I use a claw grip and my ring finger cramps with the G502 because either I have to put both ring and pinky finger on the right side or try to rest it on top...sometimes accidentally pressing the right button and hands starts to cramp. With the M65 my hand doesn't cramp because it's wide enough where my ring finger can rest on the edge without clicking the button. Other than that I think they're both good, choose one that feels right.

Q: What's the difference between the Pro version and the Regular m65?

pro is optical , regular is laser, optical > laser

Q: Can the sniping button be turned off?

Yes as you can set the dpi of the sniping button to the dpi you're using so if you accidentally click it, it won't make a difference.

Q: what type of pad I need?

Actually you dont need any pad, I used this mouse without any mouse mat for 10 days on my desk, I calibrated the surface from the Corsair Utility Engine for my desk and it didn't cause a problem. After then I bought a medium sized Corsair MM300, it felt the same, I'm okay with both. (I play BF1 and CS:GO) But if you use it without a mat, that would cause feet skates wear off a bit sooner. In short, I suggest you to buy a mouse mat :)
