A: I recommend using your thumbs to poke out bears eyes personally. If you are tough enough to consider poking out a bears eyes in any situation, your hands will be tougher than any item you are carrying. Good luck with your bear fight!!

A: If you are a hiker or use for long time, I suggested you reserve a carbon fiber trekking poles

Having previously borrowed trekking poles from a friend, I knew that these would be very helpful on the trails I was planning to hike. But I pulled them out of the package and went to use them right away without reading instructions. Well, they kept collapsing on me. What I needed to do was tighten the nuts on the clips so that the clips would hold and keep the telescoped poles from collapsing. I struggled on the trail until I pulled out my car key and used the tip as a screwdriver to tighten the nuts. One good tightening and I was good for the rest of the trip. Moral of the story: read directions! But in all seriousness, I had to rely heavily on these poles and they served me very well on the trail. They gave me added strength and stability going up and down over rocks, boulders, stairs, and inclines. The poles are lightweight, easy to use, and they come in a travel pouch with all of the extra tips. Trekking poles are a great tool that will enhance your hiking experience, and this is a quality set at a very good price.
