## Overview

This 1-pound pack of premium sodium polyacrylate, the superabsorbent polymer used in baby diapers, instantly transforms into a gel upon contact with water, absorbing over 100 times its weight. Perfect for educational science experiments, slime making, and industrial demonstrations, it offers a hands-on, visually impressive way to explore polymer chemistry without any assembly or power source.

## Description

One pound of the Superabsorbent Polymer sodium polyacrylate, also known as the diaper polymer. This premium grind immediately turns into a gel, great for use by magicians and science classes. This chemical comes in many different grinds, this is not the grind that makes instant snow. This is the polymer that is used baby diapers and many other industrial uses. 1 oz can absorb 100 oz in water or more.

Review: She Binded Me With Science! - Fun stuff! Great for chemistry demonstrations. This is the kind that makes a solid glop, not snow. Put about 6 grams of sodium polyacrylate in a 400 mL beaker, then pour about 300 mL of water (from a decent height to facilitate mixing) into the powder. Distilled water is tops and you can use less, but tap works as well. In about a minute, you have a goo that will cling to an upside down beaker like a tween to her iPhone. Reverse the effect by adding a few grams of sodium chloride (salt) and agitating (stirring) until you see a structure change (common cold booger to watery allergy snots). I keep a baggie in my purse when I go to bars. My friends are sick of chemistry, and really sick of solid drinks. I still think it's hilarious. Be sure to dispose of this stuff properly, i.e. not in YOUR drains. Your chemistry-hating friends' drains are fair game.
Review: So we used this on my kid's school project.. - Two months ago before school was over, kid had a project to show how water pollution affects us and what methods are there for us to use to help clean up the water source. We built filter, containment booms made of foam, and polymer (we watched a video on how to use polymer to turn liquid into gel, so we decided to try it). The polymer worked very well. It turned the small amount of motor oil, which we dropped into the water container, into gel so we could spoon it out. The only down side is the chemical smell, but that was expected. 1 lb was more than enough we shared it with other classes after he has done his presentation.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So we used this on my kid's school project..

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Too much fun :)

1lb is more then I'll ever use in my lifetime, however, it was cheap, so I figured I'd get a pound. When your playing with this, use about a 10th of what you think you're going to need, you can always add more, but it's a pain to un-add the polymer. I'm using it to help maintain humidity in a box, and it seems to work very well.
