## Description

There aren t too many albums like Days Of Future Passed, and then again, there aren t too many bands with theiconic power and legacy of The Moody Blues. Initially a British pop/rock outfit scoring instant success in 1964 withsay Days Of Future fortunes, but also the way many of us would go on to listen to music forever. With the addition of new bassist John Lodge and a tip from friend Eric Burdon Thomas, Graeme Edge and Mike Pinder soon moved the five guys to the outskirts seriously sat down and systematically wrote and devised the beginnings of not only their direction, but therudiments of Days Of Future Passed.Written to be a stage show about the day in the life of a person, The Moody Blues artistically and creatively wrote thethematic songs and worked them into concert form months before they were even signed to a label. While playingthe songs out live in the nightclubs, they built a zest for the new songs and knew that they had something specialwhich would only lead them down paths never in their wildest dreams (that s another upcoming album).Newly signed to Deram Records, the parent company Decca in the U.K. was looking for their quintet to recordalongside an orchestra to create an audio demonstration album for the Deram label sales reps to use at retail shops. They initially thought Dvorak s New World Symphony would be recorded and asked the band to add their rock soundto the classic work. The band told them yes but they needed five days in the studio to work out parts, and when theycame back to the label heads with the psychedelic rock and symphonic classic Days In The Future Passed and notthe symphony they hired them for, it began what we could say the birth of progressive rock. The Moody Blues Days In The Future Passed was an artistic and crowning achievement for the ages. Culled from itwere two hit singles with Tuesday Afternoon and the monumental Nights In White Satin, which not only charted in1967 but then again in 1972 when the album and the single reached the top of the charts, thanks to the endlesstouring, an incredible string of classic rock smash albums, and the strength of the material from a 1967 masterworkwhich will forever last in the journals of rock and popular music.Friday Music is very proud to announce The Moody Blues 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with our first installmentof their mind blowing classic Days Of Future Passed. Found a 53 year old mint original 1st pressing. Far out.

*by R***Z on Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2020*

An AMAZING album from an amazing time from back in "the mists of time" ( Paul McCartney ) and from an era of original and incredibly talented music, never to be seen again. If you're a true Moody Blues fan, this is a must have. And no, sorry Millenials, the X-Men movie DIDNT come first!! I am an even luckier guy than most, as not only did I grow up in this incredible era of originality and indescribable talent, but I found this LP from a great seller that is AN ORIGINAL 1st PRESSING 1967 MINT CONDITION AND VIRTUALLY UNPLAYED LP! Try to find such a thing today as a 53 year-old original LP the is still mint. Not going to happen. But the new releases are re-mastered pretty well and this is a Moody Blues fan's must-have!!

    Very Sad.

*by L***S on Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2013*

Very Sad. The 1st one I received the disc was not flat [rose hi on the turntable pin] and was warped, pretty drastically. Didn't even bother to listen. Sent it back. 2nd attempt same problem with the disc not being flat, and I don't mean a little. Didn't even bother to listen. Sent it back! 3rd attempt disc still not flat, but no appreciable warpage. Thought I might play this one. Hmm, the mastering seems nice. Nice full, dynamic sound. Wait! whats that? In the quiet sections [side one] I can perceive a thump on every rotation. Disappears about halfway through the side. You can't be serious! That's unacceptable! Back it goes! 180 gram vinyl? Who cares. I want the thing to sound great, especially for the price. As someone who's had there work mastered to vinyl I understand that this is just shoddy workmanship. On top of it I sent "Friday Music" a description of these problems in a message on their Facebook site days ago. Not a peep. They're probably inundated with reports. I have to add that I have one other release by them and it's great! What happened here?

    Find some old stock instead

*by C***. on Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2018*

No audiophile recording, this. Blown out sibilance, warped pressing. I found some new old stock (which can get expensive, mind you), and it sounded far, far better than this. Go find a used record instead.
